Independence weekend was a complete bore and washout, feeling broke and underwhelmed by the idea of another Unsafers BBQ, I worked half the day in the East Bay and was rewarded on the drive back by seeing a dozen anti-war protesters on a walkway over the 80 with big hand-painted bedsheet banners which said “No War On Iran’ -
We had a cold windy foggy veggie bbq in somebody else’s garden, the West Marin anti-war contingent showed up and told us how the anti-war contingent were attacked by water bombs thrown rudely by massive youths at the Woodacre Parade. Of course a scuffle and kerfuffle broke out but no cops or serious injury.
We could not see through the fog to the corporate fireworks on the bay, luckily there was a ghetto firework display in the street out front which was sponsored by Mexican moms who were not afraid of lighting roman candles or the cops who came by to tell us off!
We did not have apple pie , we had raspberry pie , thats just how subversive we really are!
